Why did you choose to pursue a career in ABA?
I chose ABA because it is such a rewarding field. I get to teach kids skills they will use for the rest of their life. I feel privileged to be in a position to touch the lives of kids and their families.
I also love the freedom of ABA therapy. There are so many different things you can do. From working one-on-one, to working with the child in school to working in the community. I enjoy the direct interactions with kids and their families and feel a sense of accomplishment when seeing the change first-hand.
Do you have any special areas of interest?
I enjoy working on functional skills because I believe they are the foundation for success in work, education and overall daily life.
What varied experience do you have in your field?
I worked in a school setting for eight years prior to coming to BBT. Those years provided me with extensive experience with IEPs and how to best integrate the educational side as well as the therapy side. The two are very closely related as far as the overall benefits, but differ on their direct implementation. Having experience in both, especially when working with school aged kids, has prepared me since I work so closely with schools at BBT.
What degrees, licenses, certifications and/or special training do you hold?
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about the kids I serve, the field of ABA and the many different facets of Autism.
What do you enjoy most about working at Building Blocks Therapy?
Working so closely with children and their families is the best part of my job. Being able to serve such a wide range of ages and developmental levels has helped me grow as person, as well as a BCBA. I am so very fortunate to work with such incredible therapists who are always willing to go the extra mile to help one another.
